The Renewables Consulting Group is attending the WindEurope Conference & Exhibition, 2-4 April 2019.
WindEurope will host the conference and exhibition in Bilbao, Spain. Billed as Europe’s leading wind energy event, 300 exhibitors from 50 countries will join conference speakers, including Ministers from five different countries. The theme for the event is: Delivering a clean economy for all Europeans; with a focus on people:
- The people who work in our industry: are there enough of them, are the right skills out there, how can we best support what we hope will be a growing workforce?
- The citizens of Europe and wind: how to maintain their continued support for the expansion of wind; how wind benefits local communities; how wind will reduce consumer bills; and
- How wind can help deliver a “just” energy transition for all regions of Europe: including coal regions and regions dependent on energy-intensive industries.
The meeting coincides with RCG establishing a strong presence in Iberia, with a new office in Barcelona. Spain is a leading European wind manufacturing hub, accounting for 22,000 jobs. With almost 24 GW of installed capacity, wind energy has been an important contributor to the Spanish power system for some time. Spain is ranked fifth in the world in terms of installed wind power after China, the US, Germany and India. Spain’s first offshore wind turbine was installed in June 2018 and the Canary Islands recently stated their intention to build up to 300 MW of offshore wind by 2025, including floating offshore wind. RCG is excited to be supporting clients in this important market.
