Tokyo, Japan – Sector-specialist advisory firm, The Renewables Consulting Group (RCG), today announces the appointment of Akio Hasegawa as Director and General Manager of the company’s Tokyo office. RCG already operates in Japan, but having a strong local presence will strengthen long-term market support for clients.
RCG’s Tokyo business will be directed by Mr Hasegawa, a highly-respected leader in renewable energy engineering, who has over 20 years’ experience working within Japan’s unique renewable energy and power market. His experience ranges from development through to construction, for wind power, solar PV, and other energy infrastructure projects. He will lead RCG’s business in Japan, as well as contributing to the firm’s broader global advisory services.
Commenting on the news, Gareth Lewis, RCG’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific said:
“We are delighted to welcome Akio Hasegawa to the team. We’ve spent the last two years expanding our local presence in Asia. First, we established an office in Taipei and then opened our Tokyo operation, further accelerating provision of expert services for clients in the region. Akio san brings to RCG invaluable insight into Japan’s market, including early-stage support for offshore wind projects. Utilising local knowledge and global expertise, we give clients the in-market support they need.” – Gareth Lewis, Managing Director, APAC.
Reflecting on his appointment, Mr Hasegawa added:
“I am honoured to be joining the respected team at RCG. Japan is an exciting place to do business and we expect significant growth in the development of clean energy. In particular, the development of offshore wind is advancing rapidly and has the potential to create significant employment, as well as provide cost-effective power generation. I am looking forward to leading the firm’s business in Japan at this pivotal point in the industry’s growth. RCG is exceptionally well placed to support clients in this market.” – Akio Hasegawa, Director, Tokyo.
Before joining RCG, Mr Hasegawa most recently served with Invenergy Japan and RES Japan, working on numerous renewable energy projects, notably including confidential offshore wind projects, the Ibaraki and Wakami onshore wind projects and the Higashinasu (Yuzukami) solar PV scheme.
RCG’s continued growth means the firm is able to put an experienced team – including senior personnel – on any renewable energy engagement. The result is the swift and efficient delivery of management consulting and technical advisory services.
