Robert Biss
Principal
Rob Biss is a Principal, based out of RCG’s Southampton office. He is a highly experienced operational expert, particularly in the fields of construction management and health, safety and environmental matters.
Mr Biss is an expert in health, safety and environment aspects of wind farm construction and operation. As well as directly supporting and advising projects, he is experienced in designing and delivering training courses for clients and technicians to recognised industry standards, both on site and at training facilities.
Mr Biss served for 17 years in the British Army Royal Engineers, deployed on and supervising a multitude of construction engineering projects worldwide. During this time he also specialised in telecommunications systems. Before joining RCG, Mr Biss worked as a training manager and chief instructor delivering wind turbine safety training at international centres. Prior to that he was site manager for a construction company, installing and maintaining innovative tensile fabric structures at sites across Europe. Recent consultancy assignments have included HSE management at European offshore wind farms.
Mr Biss has multiple relevant HSE qualifications, including instructor level in many areas (working at height, working in confined spaces, manual handling, rope rescue, sea survival, first aid, fire awareness, etc). In addition, Mr Biss is fluent in German.

- HSSE implementation
- Effective implementation of health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) at an offshore wind project in the Netherlands, resulting in safe operations and excellent behaviours, built on a meticulous attention to health, safety and the environment.
- Wind turbine safety and rescue instruction
- Lead instructor for multiple aspects of safety and rescue in and around wind turbines; designing and delivering courses and training packages for clients in accordance with the requirements of governing bodies.
- Rescue procedures
- Advice to clients on rescue measures for wind farms and wind turbines, both onshore and offshore, and the provision of procedures and documentation.
