Chris Houston is a Principal in RCG’s Glasgow office. He has over 11 years’ experience in the renewables sector and provides clients with complex technical due diligence support for onshore and offshore wind farm developments, with a focus on acquisition and bank finance transactions.
Mr Houston is an expert in technical advisory services having project managed and supported on due diligence assignments for over 5 GW of wind farm projects. He has a strong track record of delivering high quality due diligence reports and providing a pragmatic approach to technical risk assessment for major lenders and investors. Mr Houston has also led and supported on several wind farm planning application and environmental assessments and has an in-depth understanding of the planning/environmental processes for wind farm projects under a multitude of consent regimes.
With experience spanning both project development and technical advisory services, Mr Houston has been engaged in the full development, construction and operational phases of renewable energy projects from feasibility assessment through to construction and operational monitoring. He has led and supported on multiple complex technical due diligence assignments, ranging from many offshore wind mandates to the acquisition due diligence for a large portfolio with 37 onshore wind farms. He subsequently managed the refinancing due diligence for the same portfolio.
Prior to joining RCG, Mr Houston served with a global engineering and consulting company, working in the technical due diligence team. Before that he led and supported on planning applications and environmental assessments for a UK-based investor owned utility. He has experience in the planning processes for both the offshore wind farm and the onshore transmission asset. He has also managed the land acquisition process for two UK onshore wind farms.
Mr Houston is trained in business management, with a post-graduate qualification in environmental studies. He is an astute project manager and holds a Certificate in Engineering Project Management.
