Roles and responsibilities


We are in search of a suitable candidate to fill the position of Senior Associate to join our specialized expert services firm, focused solely on the global renewable energy industry. In this role you will work with the world’s principal public and private sector organizations on a wide range of strategic and tactical project engagements.

The Senior Associate will lead the delivery of owner’s engineer and due diligence projects through their feasibility, pre-construction, construction and/or operational phases with a specific focus on solar, battery energy storage system (BESS) and wind projects.


Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and support solar due diligence assessments for investors and lenders.
  • Utility scale photovoltaic (PV) solar electrical design, equipment selection, energy modeling, and optimization to yield high-performing, cost-competitive systems.
  • Research and shortlist new PV equipment and BESS technologies that will increase value to our clients.
  • Use modeling software such as PVsyst to create highly accurate production estimates.
  • Draw upon technical and industry experience to characterize losses due to equipment behavior and environmental effects.
  • Use or create software tools to optimize solar and storage designs for energy yield and project value.
  • Create site-specific solar building blocks and layouts for proposals and to drive detailed Engineering activities.
  • Use internal tools and industry standards to optimize project designs for constraints such as scope, schedule, budget and geography.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of project engineering, construction and performance issues, where applicable.
  • Develop processes to streamline technical inputs to bid operations.
  • Support project turnover and performance testing of new facilities.
  • Performance guarantee validation and ongoing support.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Renewables-related discipline required, Master’s degree an asset.
  • 5 or more years of experience working in the clean energy consulting or development space.
  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience (solar/BESS/wind energy analysis and due diligence) under project finance scopes of work.
  • Desired experience with: PVsyst, AutoCAD, SunDAT or other solar-specific drafting software, GIS, Civil3D.
  • Ability to prepare high quality, concise documents to convey project progress, status and financial information to internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering standards, best practices and safety regulations.
  • Good understanding of solar PV, BESS and wind project lifecycle including the different technologies employed.
  • Understanding of technical and commercial aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects (including project finance, mergers & acquisition markets, regulatory/policy matters, equipment selection & supply chain, engineering design, permitting, offtake, and energy modelling).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Valid Canadian or USA driving license.
  • Willingness for occasional worldwide travel.

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Flexible and responsive in managing multiple projects simultaneously, sometimes in high-pressure situations.
